6L80 Performance Transmission 4140 HTSR Billet Reinforced Output Carrier (Billet Planetary)

FREE UPS Ground to the contiguous United States (lower 48) | NO core required

Engineered for extreme applications, this drop-in component is ideal for nitrous-assisted or heavy vehicles producing over 750 rear-wheel horsepower. It’s manufactured from 4140 HTSR steel, a heat treated, hot rolled alloy known for its exceptional hardness and high strength. The material offers superior mechanical properties, making it well-suited for high-stress automotive environments, particularly in high-horsepower trucks, SUVs, and performance platforms like the CTS-V.

The 4140 HTSR material ensures outstanding wear resistance, especially in driveline systems exposed to intense heat and mechanical stress. Its ability to resist stress fractures and maintain structural integrity under heavy loads makes it ideal for demanding applications where failure is not an option. The high strength and hardness of this steel enhance component longevity and operational reliability in both racing and off-road use cases.

Engineered to meet or exceed OEM specifications, this part is often used in applications involving custom gears, performance bolts, and torque-transmitting assemblies where both resistance to deformation and dimensional stability are critical. With unmatched ability to perform in extreme conditions, it’s the trusted solution for builders and fabricators seeking top-tier metallurgy and precision.

SKU: 6L80 CDT-BROC-P

Precision-Engineered Strength with 4140 HTSR Steel

The 6L80 CDT-BROC-P includes a 4140 billet steel drive plate, offering unmatched hardness and high strength critical for high-performance drivetrains. This specially selected 4140 HTSR (heat treated and stress relieved) material is hot rolled and engineered for superior mechanical properties, providing outstanding wear resistance and resistance to stress fractures. Designed specifically for extreme power applications, the drive plate reinforces the spline area to prevent deformation under intense torque loads.

The high strength and heat stability of 4140 HTSR steel make it a trusted choice in the manufacture of automotive bolts, gears, and other structural components where failure is not an option. By integrating this advanced material, the CDT-BROC-P ensures durability, resistance to high heat, and the ability to maintain specifications even in the most demanding transmission applications.

Designed for High-Power Vehicles and Load-Bearing Demands

This performance component is CNC milled and contoured to fit precisely against the planetary housing, eliminating the risk of separation under load. This added reinforcement is essential for vehicles producing over 750 RWHP, especially those using nitrous systems or operating in high-load environments such as trucks, SUVs, and CTS-Vs.

The drive plate’s precision fit enhances the material’s ability to withstand rotational force while distributing load evenly across the contact surfaces. This promotes long-term durability, reduces stress concentration, and ensures your 6L80 transmission maintains optimal performance under high-power conditions. Whether for racing or towing, the CDT-BROC-P is built to perform, offering confidence through superior heat and wear resistance, ensuring every shift is controlled and reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes 4140 HTSR steel ideal for high-horsepower transmission components?

4140 HTSR is a heat treated, stress relieved alloy steel known for its exceptional hardness and high strength, making it ideal for load-bearing transmission parts. It offers superior wear resistance, excellent mechanical properties, and the ability to resist stress fractures under high torque, heat, and pressure—perfect for vehicles pushing over 750 RWHP.

Why is the CDT-BROC-P drive plate milled to the planetary housing?

The drive plate is CNC milled and contoured to the planetary housing to ensure maximum contact and eliminate the risk of separation under high load. This precise fit enhances transmission durability and prevents structural failure during aggressive driving or high-load applications like towing or nitrous use.

Is the CDT-BROC-P suitable for trucks and SUVs with heavy towing loads?

Yes, the CDT-BROC-P is specifically recommended for heavy vehicles such as trucks, SUVs, and CTS-Vs. Its 4140 billet steel construction and high resistance to deformation make it ideal for applications involving significant heat, torque, and constant drivetrain strain.

How does this billet drive plate improve transmission performance?

The billet 4140 steel drive plate reinforces the spline area, improving the transmission’s ability to handle aggressive clutch shifting and sustained high power output. This enhancement minimizes component flex and stress fatigue, supporting more consistent performance in modified or race-built vehicles.

Does the CDT-BROC-P meet OEM specifications for 6L80 transmissions?

Yes, the CDT-BROC-P is engineered to meet or exceed OEM specifications for the 6L80 automatic transmission. It offers a direct-fit, drop-in solution with enhanced material properties, making it both compatible with stock setups and ideal for performance upgrades.

Misc. Transmission Information

Upgraded Parts: If you have an early pump cover (stator) that does not utilize anti-rotational tabs on the sealing rings or an early 1-2-3-4/3-5-R clutch housing that does not have the matrix stamp, you will need to install a factory-upgraded pump cover and clutch housing.

Transmission Tuning: Please understand that proper tuning of the TCM and ECM is mandatory. All 6L80/90’s are torque-based shifted units. The torque signal is calculated through the ECM. Therefore, transmission performance and longevity are directly dependent on the delivered torque signal that’s calculated in the ECM. If this is not done properly, you will experience premature transmission failure. We also do not recommend maxing out pressures or deleting torque management completely because it will cause seal failure and/or hard part breakage.

Flushing Cooler & Lines: We cannot stress enough the importance of flushing the transmission cooler(s) and lines, even if they are new. We recommend using a Hot Flush Machine Flush Machine or something comparable.

Auxiliary Cooler: You need to install a stacked plate auxiliary transmission cooler (not a tube and fin style cooler) rated for 25,000 GVW. The ideal operating temperature for this transmission is 180°or less. These transmissions tend to run very hot, so the cooler will lower the operating temperature and recovery time, which in turn will extend the life of your transmission.
